Couples & Marriage Counseling Help for Troubled Relationships: Resentment, Emotional Distance, Intimacy Concerns, In-Law Issues
Committed relationships can be the source of the greatest comfort and the greatest suffering.
It is in our most intimate relationship that we often reveal our deepest wounds.
When things are not working, it can be incredibly upsetting and difficult.
Perhaps you are not sure when your relationship stopped working, yet you know you are not getting what you expect, or want, out of your relationship. Or maybe you know exactly when things shifted, and it is just too painful, confusing, or upsetting to bring this to your partner to explore.
When a relationship is in trouble, for any reason, both partners usually have individual issues to address. Additionally, for some finding a skilled professional to work with as a couple is the right choice to help move the relationship back to more solid ground.
Couples counseling is powerful. Like all forms of therapy, no outcomes can be promised, yet as your therapist I will put your relationship front and center in our work together.
Together, we will get to know the unique challenges of your relationship and the needs, wants, and desires that exist between you.
I will help you clarify
What is working
Where there is hurt
Where there is hope
I will encourage you to
Remember what brought you together initially
Determine where you are now
Explore what you want for your future
I will help you deepen understanding into how you
Our work together will start out structured, based on research and my training from the Gottman Institute.
Session 1 will include the three of us working together to explore the history of your relationship with an overview of current issues.
Between session 1 and 2, on your own time both of you, separately, will complete a detailed online assessment of your relationship including 480 questions about friendship, intimacy, how well you know your partner, how you manage emotions and conflict, how you share your values and goals, and what gives meaning to your lives. There are additional questions about finances, trust, and individual areas of concern. The questionnaire is completely confidential and as your therapist I will be the only person to see your responses.
Session 2 is an hour long, with each of you meeting with me individually for 30 minutes.
Session 3 We will come back together, and based off our time together and the assessments, I will suggest how we can move forward together in couples counseling.
I am passionate about helping people reconnect with each other from a place of individual wholeness.
Couples and marriage counseling is a science and an art
